How do you attach drapery rings with clips?

Seems simple, huh? I purchased some beautiful velvet curtains for our home theater entrance. I am planning on using drapery rings with clips, but I expected to have some type of plastic loop to be on the back of the drape, but no. There are two small thread that run the length. Should I clip to them? Seems kind of weak to me. Am I missing something?

1. The clips are placed right on the drape.
2. yeah you just squeeze open the clip and apply it directly to the drape. i did this to mine, i started at each end, then did the middle, then folded and measured where to put them all til it was done. they look nice
